City of Oswego Announces Independence Day Celebration

The City of Oswego is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated Independence Day Celebration, scheduled for Sunday, July 7th, 2024!

The community is invited to join in the festivities, which promise a day full of excitement, entertainment, and patriotic spirit.

The celebration kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with a grand parade, starting at Oswego High School. The parade route will take participants north on Liberty Street to West Bridge Street, proceeding east through Downtown Oswego, then north on East 4th Street, concluding just before Fort Ontario. This vibrant procession will showcase local bands, community groups, and festive floats.

Following the parade, a lively Block Party will take place on West 1st Street between West Bridge Street and West Mohawk Street. From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., families can enjoy the entertainment of Mega Bubble Man and engaging activities hosted by the Children’s Museum of Oswego. Jeff the Magic Man will be on-site from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Live music will fill the air from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a performance by John McConnell at the bandstand located at the intersection of West Bridge Street and West 1st Street. Simultaneously, Nate the Great will provide entertainment near Civic Plaza, delighting audiences with his unique talents.

From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., children can partake in various free activities offered by local community organizations, discovering valuable resources available in the area. G & G Animals will be present in Civic Plaza, showcasing a fascinating array of animals and reptiles.

The fun continues with free carnival games, a euro bungee, inflatables, and more, available from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Restaurants along West 1st Street will be open, offering delicious food and social district to-go drinks for all attendees. There will also be food trucks in attendance from 2:00 -9:00 p.m.

As the evening progresses, live music will be provided by Frostbit Blue from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., setting the stage for an unforgettable night. The celebration will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display off the pedestrian bridge, lighting up the sky at 9:45 p.m.
