Write a commentCNY Arts Center will be shining the spotlight on two local authors, Sunday, September 13 at 6pm at 11 River Glen Dr, on the Cayuga Community College campus in Fulton.
Kendra Matott’s first book “Ringleader” will be featured alongside “Adirondack Adventures” written by Roy Reehil. Jim Farfaglia will facilitate the public Q&A session that explores an author's new work and intentions and helps make that author's work accessible to the community. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author but the event is free and open to the public.
Kendra Matott is an active member of CNY Arts Center well known among children and families for her Arty Day Camp classes, after school art club in the Fulton Community School, and as a substitute teacher in the Fulton School District. She is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam where she created her “Circus Series” which became the basis for her book “Ringleader” when she wrote a story based on the art work.
“Ever since I was little, I have been fascinated with magic and fantasy. I was one of those crazy kids who talked to themselves and played pretend,” Kendra says in her website bio. “I was blessed with some great friends who had the same interests that I did. In high school I took every art class I could. Delving into art, in many mediums, I discovered a way to showcase my interest in the fantastic.”
“I continued to explore fantastical themes in my work as I earned my BFA from SUNY Potsdam. While attending school I was also offered an opportunity to work with J. Corsentino, the creator of Time of the Faeries. This wonderful experience took me to New Mexico, Los Angeles and Oregon in a whirlwind of fantasy artist mayhem.”
She concludes, “Although my concentration was in photography, I really consider myself a mixed media artist...and look forward to continuing to create images of fantastical creatures, characters and landscapes.”

Roy Reehil, known to some as the Oswego County Legislator from Cleveland, will also be discussing his book “Adirondack Adventures” written in collaboration with William J. O’Hern. The book was developed from the photo-journals of Harvey Dunham and his mentor Bob Gillespie, and details the trips, experience and backpacking adventures that inspired Dunham to write his classic book Adirondack French Louie.
Reehil had a variety of careers and/or companies in music, information technology, graphic design, and environmental technology before becoming a stay-at-home dad. He launched Forager Press and has published several books on the Adirondacks and local folklore. Before becoming an Oswego County Legislator, Roy served as Mayor of Cleveland.
He is currently President of the Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team (CASART) and a DEC certified Wilderness First Responder and Crew Boss. He lives with his wife Patricia and son Ethan in Cleveland, NY on Oneida Lake. For more on this author visit http://theforagerpress.com/index.htm.
