CNY Receives $62M in Latest Round of State Funding

This year, the 10 Regional Councils once again competed for funding and assistance from up to $750 million in state economic development resources as part of Round Six of the REDC competition.

On December 8, Governor Cuomo announced that the Central New York region would receive $62.2 million in economic and community development funding toward 77 projects. Twelve of those projects are in Oswego County.

Operation Oswego County, Inc. was awarded $120,000 to expand and improve a manufacturing facility in the Lake Ontario Industrial Park in the City of Oswego, for the benefit of the building tenant, Northland Filter International. The expansion will allow the company to purchase two new production lines and increase employment.

The City of Fulton was awarded $61,500 for a feasibility study for the development of 8 multi-use trail segments that will complete the existing trail network and update the City's Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.

The City of Oswego was awarded $245,077 for installation of the Seneca Street Neighborhood Bikeway along West Seneca Street between the intersection of First Avenue and Route 104, extending east to the River Walk trail paralleling the Oswego River.

The County of Oswego was awarded $103,500 to convert a vacant riverside parcel located in the City of Oswego into a public access area to the Oswego River. The site will include a launch for car top boats, a parking area and a paved trail down a steep bank to the river.

The Town of Richland was awarded $280,061 to make improvements at the Haldane Center. Work includes updates to Haldane Memorial Arena, construction of a pavilion, resurfacing a 1-mile walking trail, and more.

The Village of Phoenix was awarded $529,216 for water and sewer improvements including new water lines, storm sewers and sanitary sewers.
