Write a commentAcoustic Singer/Songwriter and Central New York Native Christopher Battles started 2014 with great news: his Miles Upon Miles EP is getting airplay on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The musician's instrumental track, Falling Off the Roof, aired on The Village in late January and continues to play in their lineups. The Village broadcasts folk heroes like Arlo Guthrie, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger has Battles' to their library.
With Central New Yorkers' Kickstarter donations Battles recorded Falling Off the Roof on Miles Upon Miles EP in 2012 while he lived in Brooklyn. The EP was released in New York City's Rockwood Music Hall that June. The title track was also an International Songwriting Competition nomination for Best Folk Song. For the next year the troubadour's journey was chronicled in audio postcards by North Country Public Radio, concluding with a live performance and interview in April of 2013.
Today, Battles is a partner in our community since moving back to Central New York. In the last year he has headed a fundraiser for the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County and performed at The Great Pumpkin Festival and the Oswego Music Hall. In pursuit of a master's degree at SUNY Oswego Battles continues to travel and perform, booking performances for this summer currently.
Battles will continue to seek musicians, businesses and causes to grow our community with his sincere and genuine music. Meanwhile, listeners worldwide tune into Sirius XM's The Village to hear our fellow Central New Yorker.
