As a community response to Thursday evening's fire in the apartment house at 194 West 5th Street, a clothing drive was very quickly and successfully organized using Facebook.

A clothing collection event was organized led by Lisa Emmons of Mother Earth Baby. The public was asked to donate some articles of clothing which could then be distributed to those Oswegonians who had lost their possessions in the fire. Local residents could drop off clothing at Mother Earth Baby on Bridge Street in Oswego. The donated clothing would be sorted by item category and size. The families that lost thier possessions to fire damage were then allowed to go through the sorted items to see what they could use.

Locals who worked on this event included the following: Lisa Emmons of Mother Earth Baby, Victoria Usherwood Gailinas and Mary Schloss of iHeartOswego.com, Linda DeMassi and Stephen Phillips of Port City Co-Op, and Kevin Hill of JP Jewelers.
