Write a commentThe 3nd Annual “Out Run Autism” 5K will kick off Autism Awareness month this April with the support of top sponsor Vona’s Restaurant.
“We are very grateful to have the support from the Vona family this 5k once again,” noted Oswego County Autism Task Force President, Tammy Thompson.
The run/walk will take participants through Oswego's East side, scenic Fort Ontario area on Saturday, April 1. This year’s event will also include the first Little Lukes “Kids Fun Run,” taking place just before 5K start.
Spectators and supporters who opt out of the 5K can also participate by enjoying a delicious meal for a great local cause. The "OutRun Autism" 5k & “Breakfast of Autism Champions” will benefit the Oswego County Autism Task Force who provides Autism Awareness and creates possibilities for those touched by Autism Spectrum Disorder in Oswego County.
Event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Press Box Restaurant on East First Street in Oswego with awards to follow. All runners/walkers looking to celebrate the cause post-race or supporters looking to cheer on runners can meet up at the Press Box and enjoy the "Breakfast of Autism Champions" (from 9am - 11 am for additional cost paid upon service to the Press Box) and proceeds will go be donated to the event as well.
“We are excited and planning another great turnout of runners, walkers, and supporters for this year’s event,” noted Julie Chetney, Race Director. “Supporting local children and families who have been touched by Autism Spectrum Disorder with this 5K and breakfast will be a wonderful community event for all who are looking to support the cause.”
Registration is open by going to www.auyertiming.com. Early bird rates will end on March 1st, and registration will close on April 5. Limited same day registration spots will be available. Donations can also be made on the site, and all are welcome to cheer on runners at the Press Box the morning of the race.
