Calio's celebrated its three-year anniversary early this year with a Customer Appreciation Day on March 28th, by giving out free calzones!
"If you checked into our location on Facebook, you could get either a free buffalo chicken calzone or a chicken bacon ranch calzone." stated owner Jason Griffin. These two calzones are the store's two top-selling calzones. Griffin said that it was really for a customer appreciation day, "We saw many familiar faces as well as many new faces and it made it totally worth it" said Griffin.
Not only was it Customer Appreciation Day, but Griffin also wanted to create more awareness and customer interaction with Calio's Facebook page. "We received new likes, shares, and a lot of five star ratings." he said. Calio's held the event from 5pm-8pm and had served just under 600 calzones. According to Griffin, the store was handing out 200 calzones an hour! "It was shoulder to shoulder for three hours" mentioned Griffin. By having people check into Facebook, people could see their friends checking into Calio's and say "hey whats going on" and it draws curiousity. "Even if people didn't get to go to Calio's, the use of Facebook gave the store a great deal of exposure" the store owner said.
Currently, Calio's has ten different locations and Griffin said that Calio's in Oswego was the first store that opened. Not only is the Oswego location the first store but according to Griffin "It is our flag ship store." Griffin noted that he had accomplished what they wanted to do and will be looking forward to having another Customer Appreciation Day soon.
