David F. Baptista, 53, a resident of 102 E. Ninth St., in Oswego, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Upstate Medical University, in Syracuse.
Mr. Baptista was born in New London, Conn., and was a graduate of New London High School. He had lived in Oswego for more than 25 years.
He was a self-employed contractor and was the former owner of D&D Contracting in Oswego. He had also worked as an auto body mechanic.
He was an avid softball player and coached many local women's softball teams.
He is survived by his mother, Yvonne (Walter) White, of Florida; his father, Donald (Nancy) Baptista Sr., of Oswego; six daughters, Venice Richards, of Florida, Michelle Coley, Heidi Blankshain, Denise Baptista and Helen Blankshain, all of North Carolina, and Lindsey Baptista of Oneida; two sons, Jason Barkley, of Fulton, and David Baptista, of Oswego; three brothers, Donald Baptista Jr., of Fulton, Wayne White, of Florida, and Eric White, of Florida; four sisters, Donna Mayton, of Arizona, Diane Albright, of Colorado; Denise Baron, of North Carolina, and Tatra Baptista, of Oswego; his partner of three years, Judi Farrell, with whom he resided; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Baptista.
Funeral services are private.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, June 14, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., in Oswego.
