On a recent Saturday morning at Bridie Manor, the public had the opportunity to meet some of the women candidates running for office in Oswego County.

DAWN, the Democratic Action Women’s Network, hosted the 'meet and greet' event for a slate of DAWN-endorsed women who are working together to bring about positive changes in Oswego at all levels of government.

In attendance was Amy Tresidder, who is in an historic election, hoping to be the city’s first female mayor. Three women seeking positions in the county legislature in attendance were Laura Brazak, Marie Schadt and Heather DelConte. Karen Doten and Caitlyn Reynolds, both running for city council, were also there. All candidates were available to answer questions and listen to the issues that are important to voters. "All of us are available to their constituants at anytime." said Brazak "We welcome the time we have now to be informative as well as to listen to the residents before the election."

Laura Brazak noted that “There are some amazing women running campaigns right now at all levels of Oswego government. We already know and respect each other. By working together, we can be a powerful force for positive change in Oswego. We know how to collaborate, we are already friends.”

The general election will be held on Tuesday November 3rd, and all the candidates hope for a large voter turnout despite being an off year.

About Laura Brazak:  She recently graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Oswego with a degree in political science and sustainability studies with an additional degree in Arts & Sciences.  Brazak has spent much time in Albany, meeting with State politicians in order to learn how to better serve Oswego County. Currently, Brazak is a proud environmental activist for anti-fracking practices. Brazak works as a self-employed professional photographer.
