Local law enforcement orchestrate rooftop sit-in to raise awareness for Special Olympics athletes. Dunkin’ Donuts will support the annual “Cops on Top” event to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics New York.

On Friday, August 5, community members are invited to visit participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Central New York to attend the sit-in to support the officers, visit with Special Olympics athletes and their families, and make donations to Special Olympics New York. Dunkin’ Donuts will offer guests a coupon for a free medium hot coffee, iced coffee or tea as a thank you when guests make a monetary donation to the organization.

“Dunkin’ Donuts is honored to support the vital efforts and programs of Special Olympics New York to enhance the lives of both children and adults with developmental disabilities,” said Dunkin’ Donuts Field Marketing Manager Eric Stensland. “We’re thrilled to be able to partner with our network of generous guests to support this important organization.”

The following Central New York Dunkin’ Donuts locations will be participating:

2 East Genesee Street, Auburn;

All contributions generated from the campaign will support Special Olympics New York programs for Central New York families. In 2015, Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Central New York generated more than $27,500 in partnership with their guests to benefit Special Olympics New York.

Special Olympics New York, is a not-for-profit organization working to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with developmental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.

Following its launch in Central New York earlier this week, Dunkin’ Donuts will sample its new Cold Brew Coffee at participating restaurants on August 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dunkin’ Donuts’ Cold Brew coffee is prepared by steeping a special blend of coffee in cold water over an extended period of time to extract a uniquely distinctive flavor from the beans. The longer brewing process provides a rich, smooth coffee with an inherently sweeter flavor reminiscent of dark chocolate. Cold Brew offers another exciting choice for those who prefer their coffee cold, along with the brand’s signature iced coffee.
