     Eagle Beverage and the Oswego City School District are partnering up to host two nationally-known guest speakers who specialize in bringing awareness to underage drinking.

     The first event takes place Monday April 15, at the Oswego High School with guest speaker, M.J. Corcoran. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with Corcoran taking the stage at 6 p.m. Free child care will be provided.
     Corcoran spent two decades working on the front lines of childhood education when she had a revelation. She realized one of the best ways to help children was to teach their parents how to become more effective communicators.
     "We are pleased to be partnering with Eagle Beverage to provide parents and students information and awareness about the important topic of underage drinking. For the first event, we are excited to invite parents to hear MJ Corcoran," said William Crist, Oswego City School District Superintendent. "We feel that having M.J. reach out to the parents first will create a dialog to better prepare them for questions their children might come to them with."
     Parents are encouraged to attend the open forum April 15 with Corcoran and bring questions. The event will not only cover the dangers of underage drinking, but also touch on what it means to supply underage people with alcohol.
     Farnham Family Services, COCOAA, STOP DWI of Oswego County and The Traffic Safety Board will also be at the event to answers questions after the presentation.
     Following Corcoran's open forum Linda Dutil, RN, will be in town Tuesday, April 30, to speak with students in grades fifth-12th.
     Dutil has been an ER nurse for several years and has seen both accident victims and teens who wound up in the ER because of their own deliberate acts. In her riveting presentation, "A Taste of Reality," Dutil gives students a unique real life look at what happens when poor choices are played out and an individual ends up in the ER.
     "The Oswego City School District has a program in place for high school students usually right before the prom. This event has had a very powerful impact on the students," said Dan Dorsey Jr, co-owner of Eagle Beverage.
     "We jumped at the chance to partner with the district by bringing in two of the speakers made available by Anheuser-Busch and help our local community in the fight against underage drinking," Dorsey said. "At Eagle Beverage, we believe these two speakers, along with what the school district is already doing in underage drinking education, is a great asset to the students and parents."
     The April 15 event is free and open to the public. For every parent who attends, Eagle Beverage will be making a $1 donation to the Oswego Buc Booster Club.
