"These two locations hold importance to the people of Oswego."
"Fort Ontario is a crucial part of our Cities history and it remains a valuable historical site to us all. Lakeview Park Beach has been a recently established site for family fun and is a beautiful beachfront that Oswego can call its own, thanks to our mayor, Mr. Billy Barlow," stated Megan Beck, General Manager of Upstate Hearing Solutions and event organizer, told us. "We, at Upstate Hearing Solutions, feel it is incredibly important to give back to our beloved community, by helping keep our beautiful city clean."
The event was held on April 24th and April 25th, 2021, and the positive response and turnout from the community were more than expected. Everyone that participated put forth a great effort that was more than appreciated by the event organizer. To show appreciation to all of the participants, free T-Shirts and Hearing Screening Vouchers were given out.
Trash bags, gloves, and handheld grabbers were donated from our local Lowes and Price Chopper stores, a Sharps Container was donated from the local Kinney Drugs. Donations were eagerly given by the companies to support the clean-up.
"What we hope to accomplish with this new annual event is to bring awareness to the health and cleanliness of our community so it can keep being a place we are proud to call home," said Beck. "we should all do our part and make every day, Earth Day!"
