   Scandura  Elizabeth L. Scandura passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Orchard View Manor in East Providence, R.I.

     Born in Oswego, Betty was a daughter of the late Anthony and Carmela Losurdo.
     She was a graduate of local schools in Oswego and also graduated from the Oswego Branch of the Rochester Business Institute.
     She was employed as a sales clerk in local stores and also taught "speedwriting" for 13 years at the adult education classes at Oswego High School prior to her employment at City Hall, where she was a secretary for five mayors during her 16 years of employment until her retirement in 1981.
     Betty was an avid sports person, an ardent fan of the New York Yankees and a golfer.
     She was a member of the Battle Island State Park Women's golf League for several years.
     Betty and her late husband, James, spent the winters in Phoenix, Ariz., after their retirement.
     She is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife, Linda, of Riverside; one grandson, Vincent Scandura and his wife Kerri, of Barrington; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.
     She was predeceased by her husband, James.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 8, from the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. from St Peter's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.
     Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery, in Oswego.
     Contributions may be made in Betty's name to the charity of one's choice.
