Erin's Angels of CNY is proud to announce a grant received from the Oswego County Community Foundation (OCCF) to provide crucial support to local Oswego County backpack programs.
OCCF contributed $2,500.00 to Erin's Angels of CNY's outreach program to help ensure children across Oswego County have access to meals over the weekends.
The backpack programs, which supply food to students who may otherwise face hunger when school meals are unavailable, are vital to combatting food insecurity within the community. These programs discreetly provide bags filled with nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods that students can take home every weekend.
"Our partnership with the Oswego County Community Foundation highlights the importance of community-driven solutions to childhood hunger," said Sheila Dion, founder and executive director of Erin's Angels. "This $2,500.00 donation will make an immediate impact, ensuring that children in need are supported, and families can worry less about where their next meal is coming from."
The Oswego County Community Foundation, a philanthropic organization committed to enriching the lives of residents, is equally excited about the partnership. "We are honored to work alongside Erin's Angels to further our mission of supporting local organizations that make a real difference in the community," said Jill Abbott of OCCF. "This collaboration is a testament to how we can collectively address food insecurity and ensure every child in Oswego County has access to the nourishment they need."
This donation comes at a critical time as food insecurity continues to affect many families throughout Oswego County. The combined efforts of Erin's Angels and the Oswego County Community Foundation aim to strengthen the community's ability to provide essential resources to its youngest and most vulnerable members.
