F. William "Bill" Knight, a former resident of County Route 25, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Oswego Hospital. Mr. Knight was born on February 28, 1933, in Oswego to the late Frederick and Ann (Bracken) Knight.
"Bill" owned and operated "Bills" Exxon Service Center for more than 20 years. He was a star route driver for the USPS and worked for Niagara Mohawk for 17 years, achieving the position of "hot stick" lineman.
Bill was a life member of the Oswego BPOE and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. He was also a communicant of St.Paul's Church
Surviving are his sister, Marilyn (Jack) Fitzgerald of Williamsburg, Va.(formerly of Oswego); three daughters, Janet Knight,Jayne Knight and Jennifer (Nader) Majlaton, all of Oswego; his beloved grandsons, Max and Alec Majlaton; brother- and sister-in-laws, Jim and Ester Rebbeor and Robert Rebbeor; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 50 years, L. Jane Knight, in 2006.
Bill enjoyed many Elk trips to Las Vegas with his best girl, Jane, over the years. He loved tending to his lawn and gardens with his John Deere Tractor as well as attending gatherings with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, from St.Paul's Church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St.Luke Health Services or the Oswego Hospital in Bill's name.
