Fire Destroys Single Wide Mobile Home in Scriba

The Scriba Fire Department responded last night at 9:04 pm to a fire at 389 County Route 51A, where a single wide mobile home was found to be heavily involved in fire.

Mutual aid was provided by New Haven, Novelis, and Palermo. Mexico provided a stand by engine for coverage for agencies while they were on the incident.

Additional support from Oswego County Sheriffs Office, Oswego County Coordinators Office, and Oswego County 911 was provided. The mobile cascade unit was requested to support breathing air operations.

The structure was not occupied at the time of the fire and was called in by a neighbor. Six minutes after initial dispatch, first arriving officer reported heavy smoke coming from the structure and minutes later reported a roof collapse.

The fire was extinguished as of 10:49 pm. The Oswego County Fire Investigation team is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross for temporary housing.
