Write a commentThe H. Lee White Maritime Museum is proud to present the first "Waterfront Open House" to be held on the west pier in the Historic Maritime District at the J. Richard Pfund Boating Center on Thursday, June 25th from 4-8 pm.
The public is invited to visit and learn about boating safety and sailing fundamentals and other on-the-water activities. In addition, attendees will get to see a Dragon Boat up close and learn more about the Oswego Lighthouse Restoration project.
The USCG Auxiliary will have their mascot "Coastie" available to interact with children and visitors of all ages. Information about water related activities will be available as well as educational materials. Also on hand will be a U.S. Coast Guard rescue boat.
"Oswego has the good fortune to be surrounded by water, whether it is a Great Lake, a spectacular harbor or a fish filled river, which is also part of the greater Barge Canal system. This a great opportunity to learn and experience the waterfront. We call it a putting your toe in the water and see what you might like to do to have fun but didn't know where to start opportunity." noted Mercedes Niess, Executive Director of the maritime museum.
This event is a partnership of the maritime museum, Oswego Yacht Club, US Coast Guard, USCG Auxiliary and the Oswego Dragon Boat Club.
