The Oswego Music Hall is very pleased to bring the elegant and intimate music of a Nashville favorite—folksinger/songwriter Robby Hecht— to it's stage Sat. April 25 at 7:30. Robby is touring from San Francisco to Philly, and comes with a fistful of accolades for his newly released third CD. He's been compared to James Taylor, Paul Simon and Josh Ritter, among others, with his meditative, intimate tone. He's not afraid to be spare as a lyricist, letting the music carry much of the deeper meaning.

Critic Kim Ruehl put it this way: "Robby Hecht sings like a whisper, like a hesitant truth that simply can't go unsung anymore. His songs can invoke starry nights and fog rolling in on the beach. Lights turning off. Front porch silences and morning walks along. Holding hands for the first time, letting go for the last." Robby's music is "Unfailingly elegant from start to finish," according to the Nashville Scene.

Hecht was born in Tennessee, where his taste in music ran the gamut from Def Leppard to The Grateful Dead. Later--as a student in Madison, WI, where songwriting took root-- he made "a strangely confident and final" decision to choose music as his life's passion and work. After some time in Europe and San Francisco, where he was part of the duo All Day Radio, he returned to his hometown and later moved to Nashville. Since then, his songwriting and performances have burgeoned, earning him awards and new opportunities: placing 2nd and later winning the prestigious Telluride Troubadour Contest; taking a title at the national Kerrville New Folk Competition; producing three albums that have and are getting real positive buzz; and his current cross country tour.
