Please join us for a free event to learn about the many things to do in Oswego County while increasing your knowledge in hospitality and social media marketing! Our goal is to develop a first-class welcoming environment in the county -- one that makes our visitors want to tell other people about what a great experience they had here in Oswego County.

On Monday, May 23, our department, along with 916 Riverside, Cre8 Studios, the Herzig Group, and the H. Lee White Maritime Museum will sponsor a free hospitality training program. The session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 916 Riverside (formerly Castaway's) in Brewerton.

The program begins with an overview of key natural, cultural and historic resources in Oswego County, followed by tours of 916 Riverside and a complimentary lunch sponsored by 916 Riverside and the Oswego County Tourism Office. After the tours and lunch, keynote speaker Lynn “Spike” Herzig of Geneva will give a presentation on hospitality training and the visitor experience. The afternoon will wrap up with a presentation on Social Media Marketing.

You will also have an opportunity to share your marketing materials with other local businesses and organizations at a brochure exchange station. Networking opportunities will be given all day!

Participants don’t need to be employed in the hospitality industry in order to benefit from this program. We encourage community leaders, business owners, and front-line workers, as well as people who are thinking about getting jobs in Oswego County’s hospitality industry, to sign up.

A free bus tour will be given from Oswego to the program in Brewerton on Monday morning by Oswego Expeditions. Participants will need to reserve their spot on the bus by emailing info@oswegoexpeditions.com. The bus will leave Oswego at 8:30 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.

There is no charge to attend. Those who complete the training will become “Tourism Ambassadors” and receive a designation lapel pin and card. Businesses that participate or have employees attend will receive a certificate of participation.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register, visit www.oswegocountytap.com or call the Oswego County Tourism Office weekdays at 315-349-8322.
