Each year since 2002, the comic book industry has hosted a celebration of the American art form known as the graphic novel.
Traditionally taking place on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day seeks to get comic books into the hands of as many people as possible – for free. Due to the challenges of this year, Free Comic Book Day at The Comic Shop has moved to Saturday, September 12th.
The Comic Shop, located at 112 East Bridge Street, will have comic books from Marvel, DC, Image, IDW, Archie and more. These free comic books feature some of your favorite superheroes as well as characters from films, television, video games, and pop culture. There is something for everyone. No purchase required.
Additionally, free pizza will be provided by GJP Italian Eatery. Oswego’s own comic book artist Aaron Lee will be on hand with copies of his locally published and printed comics, as well as examples of his artwork. There will also be give-aways and prizes.
The Comic Shop will be utilizing social distancing safety guidelines and rules put forth by national, state, and local officials. These include masks, reduced occupancy, six foot distancing, hand sanitizer stations, one-way directional paths, and frequent surface disinfecting. The intent is for this to be a safe and fun event for everyone.
