The Fulton Lions Club received a presentation on the Leadership Oswego County Youth (LOCY) program from Lana Champion, program participant, at their May meeting.

Champion, a G. Ray Bodley High School sophomore and the daughter of club Vice President Melissa Champion, shared a PowerPoint presentation that outlined the program and in which she reflected on the positive personal experiences she has had as a participant. She also included Lions members in an interactive exercise to analyze personal behavior styles and what type of leader each person might be.

LOCY is a nine-month training program available to all high school students that focuses on developing skills in regard to leadership, public speaking, team building, personal and community awareness, decision making, and more. Participation preference is given to students entering their sophomore year who exhibit leadership potential and a desire to learn and grow. It is sponsored by SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, the Workforce Development Board of Oswego County, and the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
