Fulton Public Library Holding Mitten Drive in January

During the month of January, the Fulton Public Library will be collecting new and lightly used hats and mittens to ensure children are warm during the winter months.

The library will be donating the hats and mittens to the nurses' office in each of Fulton's school buildings to make sure they are handed out to those most in need.

Two related events are happening during our Grand Opening Week Celebration, which begins on January 15:

  • Monday, January 15th at 3:30 we will be doing a Hat & Mitten Storytime with a craft. The stories will revolve around author Jan Brett's books "The Hat" and "The Mitten."
  • Saturday, January 18th at 10:00 AM we are holding a special program called "Hooks & Needles with some Yarn Tales." It will be an old-fashioned sewing circle for those that knit and crochet to come together and make some hats and mittens for the drive. It's also an opportunity for community members to chat and laugh together so all are welcome to join even if they don't knit or crochet.

The library also offers a Comfort Cabinet, which is in need of restocking. The Comfort Cabinet, located in the foyer of the library, is available for anyone and everyone with items that are free to take as needed. Donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, gently used shoes, and feminine hygiene products are being accepted for the cabinet.
