George F. Elkin, 95, a former resident of 68 Bronson Street, passed away Tuesday, at the Pontiac Care Center in Oswego.
George was born in Oswego, the son of the late Fred and Hazel (Sholes) Elkin. He was a life resident. He was a veteran of the US Merchant Marines, serving during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he was employed, for many years, with the Oswego Castings Co. He was the husband of the late Florence (Snyder) Elkin, who died in 1971.
George is survived by two daughters, Susan (Bill) Morrison of North Carolina, and Pamela (John) Propster of Fulton; two sons, George Elkin, Jr. of Oswego, and Francis Elkin of Oswego; a sister, Wilma Morrone of Cheektowaga; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five siblings, Harriet Farley, Francis Elkin, Doris Eastwood, Gerri Maher, and Joan Dedee.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
