Gerald S. “Jerry” Stepien, 73, of Oswego, died March 30, 2018 in Daytona Beach Florida.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Walter and Jennie Stepien.

He was a US Army Veteran serving 28 years, during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

After his retirement, he worked as a School Bus Driver for many years with the Oswego City School District.

Known as a Jack-of-all-trades, Jerry had many hobbies and interests. As a boy his grandfather taught him how to play the clarinet. He loved to play golf, archery, bowling and billiards winning the championship twice, chess where he won the state championship. He also like making model airplanes, the wooden ones with gas engines, woodworking, cabinet making, and designing his own jewelry.

He was a member of 501st Military Intelligence Group at Huachuca, AZ and asked to be a member of Mensa, he went several times but decided that he wasn’t interested in it.

Surviving is his wife of 38 years of marriage, Theresa Stepien who met her in Korea; and his sister Sherry Stepien.

Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 11a.m. Friday, May 4th, at St. Mary’s Church, Oswego. Nelson Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
