
Gladys Rappleye, 103, and a lifelong resident of Oswego passed away Sunday morning at the Oswego Hospital.
She was born in Palermo and was the daughter of the late Carl and Edna Dennis Snyder. Mrs. Rappleye was the widow of the late Stewart Rappleye who died in 2014. Her first husband, William Metcalf died in 1963. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at Frank G. Wells men’s store for 33 years until her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Rappleye was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Scriba Historical Society.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Jane (William) Cristman of Syracuse, Elaine (John) Woods of Portland, Oregon, one stepson, James (Bernice) Rappleye of Kalispell, MT, 6 neices, Ann Moody, Carol Tryon, Geri Falanga, Marian Henderson, Ellen Bevaqua, Kathleen Amedio, two nephews Dennis Snyder and Kevin Snyder.
Funeral services will be Sunday 4:00PM at the First United Methodist Church. Calling hours Sunday 2-4PM prior to the service.
Burial will be Monday 11:00AM in North Scriba Cemetery.
