The concert, which will also feature both high school and middle school jazz ensembles as opening acts, is a free event.
Marienthal is a well-known saxophone player who was taught how to play the instrument by the famous saxophone professor Joe Viola at Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he received the highest proficiency that was ever given by the school.
Marienthal became a member of the band Chick Corea Elektric Band, with whom he won two Grammy awards. He continued to play the saxophone alongside big names in the music industry such as Billy Joel, Elton John, B.B. King, Patti Labelle and Stevie Wonder. He performed in over 65 countries, touring with many artists along the way.
Marienthal later launched a solo career in which he produced 11 albums. Six of his songs—all scattered throughout his career—made it to the top 10 National Contemporary Jazz Radio Charts, with two songs exclusively reaching to number one on the charts.
Not only is Marienthal a professional saxophone player, he also teaches others how to play the instrument as well through three instructional books: "Comprehensive Jazz Studies & Exercises," "The Ultimate Jazz Play Along" and "The Music of Eric Marienthal." There is also an option to visually learn how to play the instrument through three instructional videos as well: "Play Sax From Day One," "Modern Sax," and "Tricks of the Trade.
This renowned player also devotes his time to helping the non-profit organization High Hopes, which aims to aid those who have suffered traumatic head injuries. Marienthal has been involved with the organization for the past eight years.
Oswego High School is hosting the famous musician, bringing diverse music to the city of Oswego. This family-friendly event is looking up to be an unforgettable night for all involved.
