The sky over Granby will light up with color and magic on Thursday, August 21st, as the Town of Granby Community Activities Team (CAT) presents “Balloons Under the Moon” at Don Butler Soccer Park, 300 Chase Road.

This free, family-friendly event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and promises an evening filled with hot air balloons, live entertainment, food, and fun.

Granby Supervisor John Snow is looking forward to the event, stating, “We are excited to open our community’s doors and celebrate a spectacular evening of wonder in the skies over Granby. We are looking forward to families, friends, and visitors from near and far experiencing what makes our town so special—warm hospitality, shared joy, and a night of unforgettable skies.”

One of the evening’s highlights is a static display of glowing hot air balloons, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and continuing until 9:00 p.m. As the sky glows, Cosmic Karma Fire will deliver a captivating fire performance at 8:00 p.m.

Before the glow, guests can experience a hot air balloon walk from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. and enjoy balloon art by Jeff the Magic Man from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Other activities include bounce houses, live music, vendor booths, and a photo op in a grounded hot air balloon basket. All activities are free and no reservations are necessary.

The evening’s live music lineup features Twin Towers Music kicking things off at 5:00 p.m., followed by 3 of a Kind Band closing the stage at 7:00 p.m.

A variety of food vendors will be on-site with delicious options for purchase, including Shannon’s Hotdogs by Crystal, Willy-Billy-Bob’s BBQ, Babcia’s Boyz, PB&J’s Lunch Box, Cayuga St Steakhouse, 114 Reserve, Fulton Youth Soccer concessions, and an assortment of sweet treats.

Oswego County Office of Mobility Management is providing a free shuttle to the event. Stops will be available at Granby Town Hall and Walmart parking lots. A full shuttle schedule will be released closer to the event date.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, flashlights, and lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the evening’s sights.

In the event of inclement weather conditions, “Balloons Under the Moon” will be rescheduled for the rain date of August 28th, at the same time and location. For updates and more information, follow the Granby Community Activities Team on Facebook.
