The H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s Derrick Boat No 8 was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Thanks to a grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, a permanent roadside marker was install by museum volunteers to help the public learn about this historic vessel and its designation.

Pictured are Michael Pittavino, museum curator and Captain Ron Marquisse, who recently presented a talk about his documentary, Cruising America’s Waterways: The Erie Canal. The lecture was part of the museum’s recognition of the 200th anniversary celebration of the beginning of the construction of the Erie Canal.
