Write a commentHarold "Sonny" J. Goodale, 77, a former resident of Oswego, died Sunday evening May 12, 2013 in the Cayuga Medical Center, in Ithaca.
He was born in Oswego, a son of the late Henry and Dora (Southworth) Goodale.
Mr. Goodale was a resident of Oswego until moving to Ithaca in 2006. He retired from Rite Aid in Liverpool after many years of service.
Mr. Goodale served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Goodale is survived by his son, Harold F. (Mary) Goodale, of Oswego; two daughters, Ann Marie Casler, of Hannibal, and Linda Johnson, of Fulton; two sisters, Georgia "Dixie" Penfield, of Oswego, and Della Revis, of Virginia; two brothers, John Whalen, of Florida, and Mathew (Shirley) Whalen, of Albany; his companion, Lilly Newton, of Ithaca; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Goodale was predeceased by his daughter, Patty Goodale;a granddaughter, Esther Goodale; and sister, Lorreta Brancato.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Peck Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m., Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home, 147 W. Fourth St., in Oswego.
