Write a commentOswego Players director Troy Pepper chose wisely for the kick-off of the group's 75th season with "Dial M for Murder," a classic who-done-it by English Playwright, Frederick Knot.
It has all the elements that keep audiences on the edge of their seats throughout.
The plot revolves around a married couple and the husband's reaction to the news of his wife's affair. Tony Wendice (Aaron Callahan), overcome by jealousy and possessiveness painstakingly conjures up his revenge. Knot has set his play in London, a great backdrop for mystery and macabre. It is no wonder that Alfred Hitchcock was lured by the location and the quality of the writing to expand the script to entice theatre goers. The casting of Grace Kelly, Ray Milland and Robert Commings, popular stars of the period did not hurt either.
"Keep in mind that Bill Riley will be hosting the actors at river's end bookstore at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23," a spokesperson for the Players said. "They will appear costumed and perform scenes from the show. Refreshments will be available and also feed-back with the performers – a win-win situation for all."
Production dates are 8 p.m., Friday & Saturday, Feb. 8, 9, 15 and 16. There will be a 2 p.m., matinee Sunday, Feb. 17. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and $7/students. Reservations are recommended and available by calling the Players' box office number, 315-343-5138.
