James Harrington, 60, a resident of Oswego, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Oswego Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Marjorie (Dowd) Harrington.
James was a supervisor for more than 30 years at Alcan/Novelis, retiring in 2003.
He enjoyed old movies and was a sci-fi fan and a history buff.
James was a loving single parent who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and loved his dogs. He was a helping hand to many people, asking nothing in return.
He is survived by one daughter, Cherie (Mark) Barker, of Oswego; one son, James (Stephany) Harrington, of Oswego; one brother, Charles (Wendy) Harrington, of Oswego; two sisters, Sallie Cappel, of Fruitland Park, Fla., and Barbara (Timothy) Kraft, of Oswego; six grandchildren, Mark Barker Jr, Nathan Barker, Jacob Harrington, Audrey Harrington, Cassandra Barker and Brianna Harrington; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at Nelson Funeral Home.
Burial will be private in New Haven Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., prior to the service, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
