Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Samuel F. and Julia (Maybee) Lackey. James was a truck driver for Gold Top Bakery. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching wrestling.
Surviving are Four sons, Frank (Eva) Lackey of Hannibal, Louis Lackey of Oswego, James Lackey Jr. of Scriba; Rick Lackey of Utica; four daughters, Tammy Lackey of Utica, Angel Lackey of Oswego, Tiffany Lackey of Utica, and Glory Ann Underwood of Utica; one sister, Shirley (Vic) Gappa of AZ; 20 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Muscarella) Lackey in 2010.
Calling hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
