James M. Thompson, 69, life-long resident of the Oswego area, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late J. Gilbert and Elsie ( Lewis ) Thompson.
He was a graduate of St. Paul's Academy and later served in the United States Air Force.
He was the co-owner of A&J Music Co., in Oswego, and an accomplished drummer who was a member of many bands throughout the years, including The Country Showmen and Revival.
He was an enthusiastic NASCAR and Oswego Speedway racing fan and a member of the Oswego Moose Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Ware) Thompson; a daughter, Jamee Thompson, of Florida; two sons, Joey (Melissa ) Thompson, of California, and Thomas (Sandra) Thompson, of Maryland; three sisters, Ann ( the late Francis ) Smegelsky, of Oswego, Rita (Bob) McCormack, of Georgia, Theresa (Mark) Thesier of Connecticut; two brothers, Jack Thompson, of Oswego, and David "Gibby" (Carolyn) Thompson, of Oswego; two granddaughters, Rhiannon and Sara;d many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the funeral home,112 E. Second St. Oswego.
Contributions may be made to the Scriba Christmas Fund, the Lycoming Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
