Fitzhugh Park Elementary School in Oswego kicked off the school year with a program featuring Joe Trionfero and his well-known character education program "Show of Love!"

Trionfero, whose energy and enthusiasm throughout the program was infectious, engaged students in their school-wide character education initiative now underway.

Trionfero tailored the message to reflect Fitzhugh Park's commitment to helping students be "fully prepared and life ready" through leadership skills embedded in the “7 Habits of Happy Kids”.

Of the seven habits covered, Habit 5: “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood” took center stage, as Mr. Trionfero consistently encouraged students to strive to understand and appreciate others.

Fitzhugh Park Elementary School is excited to continue their work as a “Leader in Me” school, based on FranklinCovey’s whole-school transformation process. “The Leader in Me” approach to learning and character development teaches next generation leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child possesses greatness and can be a leader. Fitzhugh Park’s goal is to embed “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” throughout the curriculum and school community in an effort to prepare every student to be “fully prepared and life ready.”
