John J. Manning, 76, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 6th, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
John worked for the Department of the Army for 22 years as a Unit Administrative Logistics Specialist, with the 376th Combat Support Hospital, in Liverpool, NY. He served proudly in the Army Reserves for 40 years. John retired from the Army in 1993, the recipient of many merit awards. He had worked at General Electric for 20 years, and also as a bartender at Joe's Restaurant, owned by his Grandparents. He was an avid New York Yankee and New Orleans Saints fan, and never missed a game. His favorite hobby was woodworking, he has left all of us many wonderful pieces, that we will treasure forever.
He is survived by his dedicated, loving wife, Theresa (Coniski) Manning, of 52 years. His five children, Kathleen (Augie) Gentile, of Oswego, Laurie (Ken) Tallo, of California, John (Laura) Manning of NYC, Suanne (John) Darling, of Sterling & James Manning of NYC. His ten grandchildren, which he loved and was so very proud of, Nicole & Stephen Hoefer, Matthew, Erik & Leah Tallo, Johnny & Lily Manning & Joshua, Jordan & Skyler Darling. Many supportive Brother and Sisters-in-law and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded by his parents William and Mary Manning, his beloved grandparents Joseph & Lena Finocchio, and his beloved mother-in-law Sophie Coniski.
Calling hours will be private. A Christian burial will be held at St. Stephen's Church, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be held at St. Peter's cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oswego Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
