Jonathan Ronald Shaffer, 52, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, grandson, and friend, passed away at his home in Central Square, New York on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Jon was born on November 2, 1972 in Franklin, Pennsylvania to Ronald and Sandra (Heeter) Shaffer. He was a 1992 graduate of Cranberry High School in Seneca, PA. After graduation he served in the US Army as a Signal Systems Support Specialist from 1992 to 1998. He worked as a Maintenance Technician for Time Warner/Spectrum for 20 years.
Jon was devoted to his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a lifetime member of NRA, and a member of the American Legion Post 268 of Oswego, New York. Jon also enjoyed camping and celebrating holidays and events with family and friends.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, his children and their partners; Jonathan Shaffer Jr. (Kayla), Chelsie (Aidan) Davoren, Amber Shaffer (C.J. Soulier) Kayliann Shaffer, Hunter Shaffer, Lily Shaffer, his grandchildren, Brynlee Soulier, and Lochlan Davoren.
He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Shaffer, his maternal grandmother, Allene Heeter, his brother Jason (Angela) Shaffer and sister Jamie White, his brothers and sisters-in-law, father-in-law Richard Haynes, Sr., his aunts and uncles, his nieces and nephews including Kylie, Braydon, and Ryker Shaffer, and Cameron White among others, along with many cousins and friends.
Jon was predeceased by his father, Ronald C Shaffer, his maternal grandfather, William (Bill) Heeter, and his mother-in-law Carol (Rowlee) Haynes.
Visitation will be held in Oswego, New York at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM. Visitation will also be held at Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Pennsylvania on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 1 to 3 PM with funeral services immediately following. Interment will be at Rockland Cemetery, Rockland, Pennsylvania.
