Write a commentJunior “JR” Burnett, 93; of Oswego, NY passed peacefully Saturday, July 20th, 2024, after a short illness at St. Luke Health Service, Oswego, NY.
He was born in Wolcott, NY to the late Merton Jerry and Ruth (Crocker) Burnett. JR has been a resident of Oswego, NY for most of his life.
Mr. Burnett was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for several years with the Laborers Local #214 at Nine Mile, Scriba, NY and later retired from the City of Oswego/Water Department.
JR enjoyed hunting and fishing. He found happiness working, sitting and relaxing with his wife in their yard. JR also liked occasionally frequenting the casino.
He was pre-deceased by his wife: Dorothy May Burnett in 2019 and his siblings: Bill Burnett, Don Burnett and Mary Salerno.
Mr. Burnett is survived by his six children: Jerry Burnett of Fulton, NY; David Burnett of Arkansas, Terry Burnett, Randy Burnett, Billy Burnett and Tammy Ferguson all of Oswego, NY; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and Burial will be held privately. The Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St., Oswego, NY has care of the arrangements.
