Friendly's of Oswego recently conducted a fundraiser for the Oswego wrestling program. Oswego Middle School coach Mike Howard accepts a cash donation from Friendly's general manager Patrick DeWine. This is one of the many community projects that Friendly's has conducted to assist locally.
Matt Clemons qualified in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling Championship and earned a position on the state all-star team, led the league with a 232 average and had several 700 series in competition. He was recognized by the Oswego City School District Board of Education and the superintendent of schools at the March 26 meeting. Presenting Clemons with a certificate of recognition are board president John Dunsmoor and superintendent of schools Bill Crist.
In what had become a fifth-grade tradition at the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School, holiday Peeps projects have been on display. The popular Peeps are set in a variety of scenes. Click through for more photos.
FitzGibbons Insurance owner John FitzGibbons sponsors the "FitzGibbons Insurance Athletes of the Month," in cooperation with the Oswego Buccaneer Booster Club.
The mission continues for Emily Bradshaw as "Emily's Mission" is providing Easter baskets and gift bags to two families at the Oswego Middle School (OMS). Emily is joined by OMS Principal Mary Beth Fierro with the latest donation from the OMS student project. "Emily's Mission" has focused on Oswego County homeless and persons as well as families in need.
In the Oswego City School District musical theater isn't limited to just the Oswego High School as several elementary schools produce their own stage productions.
Frederick Leighton Elementary School students were involved in the second PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) celebration of the year.
Syracuse Crunch player, Mark Barberio, who was last year's American Hockey League Defenseman of the Year and first team all star, was a guest in Alexandra Ackerman's third-grade classroom at the Kingsford Park Elementary School. He shared a book with the students and answered their questions about the life of a professional hockey player. Ackerman has several young hockey players and enthusiasts in her room and they were very interested in visiting with their guest.
