Kathlyn L. McCaffrey, 89, a resident of West Seneca Street , in Oswego, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the Oswego Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Grace (O'Connell) James. She was a graduate of the Oswego High School and had attended business school in Ithaca.
She was the bookkeeper for Smith Construction and the Oswego County Cooperative Extension.
Kathlyn was a lifelong duplicate bridge player and tournament director. She started the Bridge Marathon at St. Mary's Church.
She enjoyed all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her two daughters, Susan (Daniel) Daniloff, of Sausalito, Caif., and Arlene (Robert) Sims, of Horn Lake, Miss.; a son, Thomas McCaffrey, of Oswego; one brother, Donald (Frances) James, of Oswego; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan McCaffrey, Dr. Alicia G. Bond, Dr. Michelle A. Giuffrida and Paul A. Giuffrida; four great-grandchildren, Sammy, Hattie, Erik and Owen; a close friend, Pati Wells; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred McCaffrey; and her son, Barry McCaffrey.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, from St.Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, at the Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.
