Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., in Oswego, welcomes artist/photographer Kendra Matott as its newest participating local artisan.
Matott is originally from Potsdam and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from SUNY Potsdam in photography. She is a member of CNY Art Center and also displays her work in the Arts in the Heart Gallery in downtown Fulton.
Matott's unique artwork superimposes photography and painting.
"I am inspired by fantasy and magic," Matott said. Her subjects dress up in costumes, masks, wings and more for the photo and then Matott adds painting to create action and textural effects. The purpose of her mixing media is to enhance the storytelling quality of her work.
Lakeside Artisans is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mon.-Sat.; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings during the Farmers' Market; and from 12-4 p.m., Sundays.
