New York Sea Grant's Great Lakes program has announced a February 15-18. 2024 opportunity to learn about marine industry training and job opportunities.
Educators with BOCES marine engine technology programs in New York State, and marine industry representatives from Yamaha, Mercury Marine, and others will be in the Marine Education Center 'pop-up" exhibit that is new for the Central New York Boat Show at the NYS Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Boulevard, in Syracuse, New York, from February 15 to 18, 2024.
The ongoing shortage of skilled marine technicians in the boating industry paired with the tremendous growth in the number of new boaters has led to a need for diversified information and outreach to the boating public.
The new exhibit at the boat show will feature information on marine engine mechanic training, internships, and opportunities for job placement in the marine industry for both youth and adults.
The Marine Education Center will also have exhibits and personnel from New York Sea Grant's Great Lakes Recreation and Tourism program, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power Squadron/America's Boating Club, and others on hand with information and to answer questions.
