SUNY Oswego's Lifestyles Center recently launched "Commit to be Fit," a fitness and general wellness campaign aimed to strengthen community bonds on campus.
Throughout the month of April, The Lifestyles Center is carrying out spontaneous events intended to further encourage students to get involved in fitness on campus. The Lifestyles Center is partnering with the on-campus fitness centers, Cooper and Glimmerglass, to give away a free gym membership to a lucky student who participates in the campaign.
Alcohol and Other Drugs Program coordinator, Ted Winkworth, said "Lifestyles does its best to make health programming something that can be fun, social and part of a regular schedule so it feels good instead of like extra work tacked onto an already busy person's life."
The Lifestyles Center urges campus-goers to look out for large groups of students and faculty in the academic quad between April 16-26 and join in the fun. Accompanying the physical activities will be a social media conversation which asks students to discuss what fitness means to them via Twitter. The online discussion can be found with the #fitnessmeans hash tag. Students are asked to tweet their responses to @LSCFitness1 to be considered for the gym membership drawing.
