On yet another beautiful fall day here in Oswego, N.Y., I found myself meandering around downtown in search of another hometown style prospect.
I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a peaceful and upscale women’s retail shop named the Liz Scott Boutique. Directly located in the heart of Canal Commons, 201 W. First St., the Liz Scott Boutique enticed me in, with its open concept design, beautiful shop displays and the smell of fall.
That’s right, it actually smelled like fall.
I was warmly greeted by one of Liz Scott Boutique’s sales associates, Michelle Wade. Already I felt so at home in the boutique, and was so excited to see what exactly the shop had to offer. As I explored, I was able to find a plethora of different seasonal items, as well as great gift ideas. Within the boutique I was able to find women’s clothing, jewelry, hats, belts, scarves, and accessories. But the most unexpected (yet delightful) product I was able to find in the shop was a gorgeous, homemade-soap and potpourri selection. I guess now we know where that amazing “fall” aroma was coming from!
As “fashionistas” tend to do, Michelle and I discussed some fall trends, and what exactly is offered for seasonal-wear at the Liz Scott Boutique.
“I would say that we offer both,” Wade said when I asked if the boutique features either trendy or seasonal pieces. “We have trendy-seasonal pieces, and we always try to keep up with the latest styles for women.”
As I continued to explore and ask questions about the shop’s merchandise, my attention was drawn to one group of items in particular: a tasteful and beautifully made set of bracelets under the glass countertop.
“All of these bracelets are made out of the very best materials, and are also made locally here in Oswego,” Wade said.
The bracelets themselves are made out of beautifully cut stones and jewels, including specialty Swarovski crystals and fresh-water pearls. There were also different styles to the bracelets including casual, dressy, and even some specialty Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets inlaid with flawless pink stones. Ranging from around $20-$30, the bracelets are of exquisite craftsmanship and feminine design for a very affordable price.
As Michelle and I continued to talk, it was interesting to learn of all the different places from across the country that the Liz Scott Boutique orders their merchandise from, including California and Massachusetts. However, I especially loved knowing that the ladies of the Liz Scott Boutique like to “help keep it local,” and find pieces from the New York area that are beautifully made and trendy.
Unfortunately I was not able to meet Deb McKinstry, owner of Liz Scott Boutique, but when asked about her inspiration and vision for the store Wade said, “I would say that Deb’s vision for this boutique would be to provide an upscale, funky, fun and trendy, perfect price point for the stylish woman in Oswego.”
Wade believes that “we offer something here for everyone. No matter how old you are, I guarantee we have exactly what you’re looking for.”
With both fashion pieces and great gift selections, the Liz Scott Boutique is an excellent place to shop if you are looking for an upscale experience with an affordable price tag.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Stop by the Liz Scott Boutique to find exactly what you’re looking for this season. I had a unique and fun shopping experience today, and I can promise that you will too!
