Local author Jim Farfaglia is currently researching for his next book, One Song-One Story.

"I've had the idea in mind for many years," Farfaglia explained. "I've always loved music, especially pop music, and there are songs that remind me of important times in my life. I began to wonder what songs other people think of that remind them of pivotal moments."

Farfaglia created the One Song-One Story concept to reach out to others in hopes of hearing about their important songs and the stories associated with them. "I'm asking people to send me the name of a song that's meaningful to them and to tell me the story of why," Farfaglia said. "My goal is to collect 1,000 of these song-stories and then write a book about the power of music in our world."

Of course, most people have more than one song that is memorable. To ease their concerns, Farfaglia is asking people not to worry about figuring out their most important song or to have to single out just one song and experience. "It only matters that it's a song about which they have a story to tell," he added. And, he offered, "I know some people don't care to write their story, but they'd be glad to share it. I'd be happy to set up a time to chat on the phone and hear how a song was part of their life."

Farfaglia noted that he's been getting songs and stories about falling in love, moving away from home for the first time, finding their ideal job, overcoming a health crisis, remembering a family member that has passed on. "All of the stories resonate with me," he  noted, "and the songs, even if I'm already familiar with them, take on a new meaning with each story."
