Write a commentThe second annual Golden Pumpkin Award Contest, a city-wide, friendly cook- off battle developed by the folks at iHeartOswego.com for local businesses and eateries to encourage the creative use of pumpkin (as the main ingredient ) in the spirit of fall festivities, will be taking place on October 12th, 14th, and 16th for judging.
Businesses are encouraged to feature either their most sweet or savory, pumpkin based recipe. The dish can be an entrée, appetizer or desert or drink. Just register your business with iHeartOswego and bring in your dish to the offices at 29 West Seneca St. on the requested date, where the taste judges will score your entry!
The contest is free to enter! Entries will be judged on four key aspects; Presentation, taste, use of pumpkin and creativity. The winner of each category, sweet and savory, will receive the coveted Golden Pumpkin Award badge for use on their business’ website & social media sites and of course, bragging rights for an entire year.
This year's entrants are Red Sun Fire Roasting Co, The Press Box, Cupcakers, The Cutting Board (defending champion in the savory category), Cidermoon Coffee (defending champion in the sweet category), Kristen's at Battle Island, Stone's Homemade Candy Shop, Bishop Commons, Aunt Mary's Italian Cookies & Catering, Man In The Moon Candies, Green Mama's (formerly Coffee Nook), Cupcakes Unlimited, Jocko's Famous Ritz Diner and the Salvation Army, among others. Entries will be accepted through October 8th.
