Hundreds of SUNY Oswego students filled Lighthouse Lanes Bowling Alley Tuesday, March 3rd to show their support to the 'For The Kids' campaign intended to raise $10,000 for the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Oswego County.
The campaign was created by SUNY Oswego students Denvol Haye, member of Delta Kappa Kappa, and Eli Kim Swallow, a forward on the SUNY Oswego Men's Ice Hockey Team, to raise awareness about child abuse and reduce its devastating impact in Oswego County.
Approximetly 300 people attendend the fundraiser held March 3rd at Light House Lanes Bowling Alley in Oswego. The event began at 6pm and continued until midnight, attracting multiple demographics of friends and families within the community and kids from Oswego State. The event generated $2,000 that will be donated to the CAC at the conclusion of the campaign in April.
In addition, "For The Kids' will be hosting its second annual fundraiser on April 11th at Cheap Seats in Oswego. The event will feature a barbeque, both a silent and chinese auction, outdoor games, as well as live musical performances courtesy of Zeta band. Delta Kappa Kappa, a social fraternity whose general purpose is to foster the development of fellowship, scholarship, and leadership in young men, and the SUNY Oswego Men's Ice Hockey team each have a history of supporting non-profit organizations in and around Oswego. From children's clothing drives to food drives they are willing to what they can to better their community.
Located at 301 Beech Street in Fulton, with a satellite office at 4822 Salina Street in Pulaski, the CAC of Oswego County is a non-profit charitable organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, therapy providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve children that are victims of sexual and physical abuse.
