This exciting showcase promises to be a highlight of the summer, with a blend of creativity, energy, and fun.
The production, Alice @ Wonderland, will take place on August 23-25th at the Art Scene in Fulton. With one evening performance and two matinees. Tickets are now available for purchase online at www.cnyartscenter.com.
This Musical is based on the works of Lewis Carroll, the book by Jonathan Yukich. A Pioneer Drama Service Production. This fresh new take on a modern day Alice, after chasing that white rabbit, she gets sucked in with her phone in hand as the folly of the 21st century collides with the madness of wonderland in this rockin’ musical adaption that remains fairly faithful to Lewis Carroll’s original tale. The twist?? Alice is a texting, tweeting and Googling girl of the modern digital era, yet she finds herself in the Wonderland of old. With all of the characters you know and love including the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Queen of Hearts, this musical imagines a present-day Alice encountering the Wonderland so many of us treasure.
This production is a testament to the incredible talent and dedication of the local youth involved, with a cast aging from 5 to 13. Under the guidance of Director Kelsie Edson, these young performers are working tirelessly to bring this show to life. Newcomer to the Art Scene this year in various roles, Emma Francisco is doing choreography and Fin Delk is Stage Managing. “This is an amazing crew of young theater enthusiasts that are having so much fun directing and putting this musical together for these children, it’s a great opportunity to see these young adults that grew up on stage, come out to help the next generation to pass on their love of theater and performing in so many ways.” Said Interim Executive Director Bonnie McClellan. She continued by saying “It’s so exciting to have these empowering young adults direct a youth production, it fosters invaluable leadership and artistic growth. By taking the helm, these emerging talents gain practical experience in casting, script analysis, rehearsal management, and collaboration. They develop essential communication and problem-solving skills while nurturing a supportive environment for their younger peers. This opportunity not only strengthens their own theatrical abilities but also cultivates a new generation of passionate theater-makers, injecting fresh perspectives and energy into the community theater scene. Such a needed element”
