The Art Association of Oswego's new exhibit, 'Lost, But Not Forgotten' made its debut on August 17, but was extended through October 13 due to its popularity.
This show features art from those who are no longer with us- family and friends of the members here at the Art Association. Many date back into the 1940s with one going as far back as into the late 1800s. This gives us the opportunity to see through the lens of a generation in the past to view what they deemed as artistic expression. The vibrant colors of one era and the more muted of another gives you a sense as to how the culture saw themselves at their time. Some pieces pulled you into a fantastical mind of the artist with abstract messages and unusual depictions of characters. These artists give you a glimpse of not only their talent, which is incredible, but also of their time, mind, and cultural interest.
The artists' work include painting, prints, and ceramics. This show is a must see for any enthusiast of art, history, and culture.
The Art Association of Oswego is located at the en of East 4th Street across from Fort Ontario. It is open Wednesdays from 10-2pm, Saturdays from10-1pm, and Sundays fro 1-4pm until October 13. It is free, but donations are accepted.
