Hello Dear Readers, For those of you who may have missed my first Message, I am Maddie. I am a beautiful alpaca that lives on a pristine alpaca farm out Phoenix way on Dinglehole Road.
Well, to be exact, it is Seven Acres Alpaca Farm. It is owned by two wondie guys, Billy and Paulie (aka, “the other one”). Now as I said in my previous message, I am hoping to write to all you dear readers out there now and then. So, look for my picture now and then on this wondie Iheartoswego site.
Oh, that’s right, I forgot to tell you last time about how Dinglehole Road got its name. The story goes like this… around 1900 there were three local farmers raising cattle along this roadway. And they all shared one watering hole. The cows, however, were constantly getting mixed up and some went to the wrong barn at the end of the day. So, the farmers decided to put a bell around each of their lead cows. Each bell had a different dingle sound to it, and you got it, they called the watering hole, the DINGLEHOLE…HEE, HEE, HEE.
So, the town named this 4-mile stretch, Dinglehole Road. There, now you know how it got its name. The funny thing about all this is the township can’t keep signs posted on each of the corners. Every time they post one, someone comes along and steals it. Hee, hee, hee. This has gone on for years and years and years.
OK, back to me. As I am the most capable of the entire herd, I like to think of myself as the AIC…that’s Alpaca in Charge. Hee, hee, hee. Since our herd now consists of 23 alpacas, it is important that one of us take total charge., especially since we have 6 boy alpaca living here (don’t get me started). Well anyway, I’m the boss around here. Hee, hee, hee.
Well let’s see. Maybe I should tell you a little about our Paulie. As I mentioned, we girls call him the “other one.” It just seems like he is always getting into trouble around the farm. I mean, who would run over the garden hose three times with the lawn mower? Or what about the time he left the front gate open and four of the girls got out into the front lawn? Oh, I must tell you it is never a dull moment around here. I will say though that he does tell some good stories. And he writes them down too. So maybe I will give him a little space next time to share one of his memories. So, sit tight my dears and look forward to my next posting. TTFN. That’s ta, ta for now! Hee, hee, hee…
XXXOOO
