Madelyn Shughrou Colley, 91, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at the Oswego Hospital. Born in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Della Shughrou.
A resident of Oswego, she was an active member of St. John's and then St. Mary's Church, Oswego. She resided in Grand Island before moving to Oswego in 1975.
She was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School, DuBois, Pa., class of 1938. She trained in laboratory and X-ray at Dubois Hospital and worked in health care for more than 40years. She was also a part-time employee of St. Luke Health Services.
She was a World War II veteran, who served with the 13th WAC Hospital Co. in Butler, Pa.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Colley in 1984; a son, Thomas Jr., in 2005; five sisters, Eileen, Janice, Elizabeth, Helen Marie and Kathryn; and a brother, Jack.
She is survived by three daughters, Toni Colley, of Laguna Hills, Calif., Casey (Robert) Ebert, of Mannsville, and Mary (Daniel) Caughey, of Pulaski; a son, William (Wendy) Colley, of Colchester, Vt.; four grandchildren, Thomas III, Summer, Adrianne and Dale; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, from St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St.
